Setting up my web site

  • Mood: Dazed n confuzed
  • Music: Led Zep

Ohh thats been an interesting experience  Not sure about how I feel right now  Umm yes now I am sure yep thats the one.

I have,  as someone said, been having ummm fun setting up my Web site.  The intention is to provide help and guidance to those fortunate enough to be blissfully unaware of what computers are really capable of.  Not the PC (political correctness here).

Of course the advice I would give to anyone is KISS  "Keep It So Simple".  Of course thats exactly what I didn't do.

So going the full nine yards I happily selected a theme created a web page.  So far so good & then in a moment of complete insanity I decided to expand have 3 maybe 4 pages & include all those neat little freebie gadgets that those nice fun loving people at bravenet so kindly offered.

OH woe  now I really do know the value of my advice.

When I have been to rehab I will log the fun I had

Watch this space.  Bye the bye why not check out the partialy completed fruits of my labour

Accessing Your Blog editor and posting a blog entry

  • Mood: Relieved

Right I now know what is going on.  Oh dear bravenet have made the accessing of the log a little overly complicated for a relatively inexperienced user.

I will attempt to take myself through the process step by step:

  1. Enter your web site URL or select it from your favourits if you saved it there.
  2. Once open select "Journal" on your navigation pane (provided you have already set this up.
  3. Your Journal page appears.  You may simply wish to read this or post an new entry.
  4. To make a posting click on "manage your blog"
  5. Login with user name and password click on "login to my account" button
  6. Under "Registered Web Tools" listing click on "Blog"
  7. The Blog maintenance screen appears
  8. Under "Most Frequantly Used" click on "Post Entry"
  9. You are now in your Blog posting /editor screen.

I strongly advise copying your text. This is not function offered in the editor by clicking right mouse button.  So you will have to use Edit and copy in your Browser.

I strongly suggest that you install ieSpell if you don't already have it or a similar product.  See Kool Tool page on my Web Site.

You are now ready to post your entry.

  1. Click on "post entry" button
  2. If you wish to edit the entry select the post title and click on "edit" for that post entry
  3. To continue click on "edit entry" button.  This is counter intuitive but don't worry.
  4. Click on "back to manager" button
  5. You are back in the Blog maintainence page
  6. Select "View Service"
  7. You should now be back to your Blog page and your pearls of wisdom shining back at you.

Keep it simple

Hmm well the posting worked but it is taking me a while to get used to how to post.  Not as simple as it may seem.  Having typed this I selected "Post Entry" button but then seemed to get lost. I am going to try again.  Watch this space.

Back again I was offered the opportunity to edit the entry which is what I am doing now.  Back soon.

Yep you have to click the "edit entry" button.  This is counter intuitive as I expected to be back at this post in edit mode.  I was wrong! This button tells the system to go ahead and make the edits that the user has just made.  I got back here by selecting "edit" on the end of the post listing table.

I am now going to select "back to manager" button.  Hopefuly I will then be able to view this Post.
